French navy building minesweeping sloops according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1936 no. 3

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau dated 15 March 1936 reporting that at Lorient, France 2-640 ton avisos were under construction to be called Elan (1) and Chamois (2). On short notice were the Chevreuil (2) and Gazelle (1) of the same type to be laid down.

1. Part of the Élan-class minesweeping avisos, designed as minesweepers but instead used for other purposes mainly escort tasks.
2. Part of the Chamois-class minesweeping sloops, similar to the Élan-class, designed as minesweepers but instead used for escort, parol and anti submarine warfare purposes.
