American destroyer USS Carney (DDG-64) 1993-

Of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers. Building ordered and awarded on 16 August 1991, laid down at Bath iron Works, Bath, Maine, USA on 3 August 1993, launched on 23 July 1994 and commissioned on 8 June 1996 with as homeport Rota, Spain.

Displacement 6.900 (light)-9.000 (full) tons and as dimensions 154 x 20 x 9,4 metres or 505 x 66 x 31 feet. The 4 General Electric LM2500-30 gas turbines supplied via 2 shafts maximum 100.000shp allowing a maximum speed above 30 knots and with a peed of 20 knots a range of 4.400 nautical miles. Her crew numbers 282 men. Armament consists of 1-Mark 45 5/54 (127/54mm) gun, 2-2,5cm chain guns, 4-12,7mm/0.50- machineguns, 2-2cm Phalanx CIWS, 2x3 Mk torpedo tube, 1-29cell, 1x61cll Mk41 vertical launching system with 90 TIM-156 S<-2, NG<-109 Tomahawk pr RUM-139 VL-ASROC missiles. Could take 2 Sikorsky MH=60R helicopters with her.
