Portuguese troops underway towards Macau according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 6 July 1900

An item reported that at Lisbon a battery artillery and 400 soldiers were embarked on board of the Gazengo, Lisbon and departed towards Macau to strengthen the Portuguese garrison there. The Portuguese cruiser Adamastor (1)was expected to arrived within short time at Macau.The governor general was ordered to return to his post.

1. She was launched on 12 July 1896 at the yard of Orlando, Leghorn, Italy, completed in 1897 and finally discarded in 1933. Her crew numbered 227 men and she was armed with 12 guns.
