Laid down by Vulcan AG, Stettin, Germany in 1878, launched on 14 September 1879, completed on 3 October 1880, stricken on 21 May 1908, converted into an accommodation ship and sold to be broken up in 1920. Of the Bismarck-class corvettes consisting of the Stein, Bismarck, Blücher, Stosch, Moltke and Gneisenau, preceded by the Leipzig-class and succeeded by the Carola-class.
