United Kingdom intended to built new battleships according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf dated 17 December 1936

King George V-class

An item dated London, England 17th December reported that mid January 1937 2 new British 35.000 ton battleships were to be laid down and to be named King George V and Prince of Wales. The armament was to consist of the latest type of 35,56cm/14” guns which was less heavier as earlier types. The decreased weight was to be used to increase her armament. Both ships were to be considerable faster than the existing ships like the British battle cruiser HMS Hood.
