Type 82 destroyer of which type just one was built while the building of her sister ships were cancelled not needed anymore after the cancelling of the CA-01 aircraft carriers for which the destroyers were to act as escorts. Building ordered on 17 April 1963, laid down by Swan Hunter, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom on 15 November 1967, launched on 30 June 1969, commissioned on 31 March 1973, harbour training and accommodation ship since 1987. Displacement 6.400 (standard)-7.100 (full) tons and as dimensions 155 x 17 x 7,5 metres or 507 x 55 x 24.7 feet. Machinery consisted of 2 standard range geared steam turbines (COSAG) delivering 30.000hp22.000kW and 2 Bristol-Siddeley Olympus TM1A gas turbines delivering 30.000hp22.000kW allowing a speed of 28 knots and with a speed of 18 knots a range of 5.750 nautical miles. Crew numbered 397 men including 30 officers. Armament consisted of 1-4.5” Mark 8gun, 1 Mark 10 Limbo anti-submarine mortar and further more Sea Dart anti-aircraft and Ikara anti-submarine missile launchers. Fitted out with a flight deck for a Westland Wasp helicopter however lacking hangar and maintenance facilities.
