Portuguese frigate Bartolomeu Dias (F333) 2009-

Former Dutch frigate Hr.Ms. Van Nes (F833) 0f the Dutch Karel Doorman-multi purpose frigates class, built at the shipyard Koninklijke Schelde Groep, Vlissingen, Netherlands. On 1 November 2006 was her sale to Portugal announced she was not earlier transferred as on 16 January 2009. Laid down on 10 January 1990, launched on 16 May 1992, commissioned on 2 June 1994 and decommissioned on 20 December 2007. With a displacement of 3.300 tons and as dimensions 122,3 x 14,4 x 4,3 metres. Her crew in Dutch service numbered 154 men. Horsepower 19.580 (diesel)-33.800 (gas turbines) hp allowing a speed of 29 knots. The armament in Dutch service consisted of 8 SSM Harpoon missiles, 1-7,6cm gun, 1 SGE-30 goal keeper, 2-0.5” machineguns and 16 NATO Seasparrow missiles, 2x2 Mk2 torpedo tubes. Could carry a Lynx helicopter with her.
