The Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 31 March 1938 reported the expected visit at Tandjong Priok, Dutch East Indies by the British cruiser HMS Adventure (1) on 7 April. The Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 8 April confirmed her arrival in the afternoon of the 7th. She was described as a minelayer with a displacement of 6.470 ton and as dimensions 152,4 x 18 x 5,9 metres, a crew numbering 395 men and an armament of 4-12cm/4.7” guns, 4-4,7cm machineguns and some smaller machineguns. She was fitted out for laying mines of which she could store 340 mines. The Indische courant dated 13th reported the possibility to visit her on Monday evening 19:00 o‘clock which was done by a large number of persons including the Supreme Commander of the Dutch naval force and the commanding officer of the Dutch squadron. The Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 14th reported an intended departure that afternoon towards Singapore.
