The YMS-21 was laid down by the Greenport Basina dn Construction Co., Long Island, New York, USA on 28 June 1941, launched on 25 November 1941, completed on 18 April 1942, sunk fter hitting a mine 43.06 north and 05.54 east off Toulon, France on 1 September 1944 and stricken on 16 September 1944. So the Ta Dingdeng can not be the YMS-21 but she is the former YMS-333 laid down by Gibbs Gas Engine Co., Jacksonville, Florida, USA on 15 January 1943, launched on 20 May 1943, completed on 9 November 1943, stricken on 3 July 1946 handed over to the State Department Foreign Liquidation Commission on 15 October 1947, sold to Thailand and finally stricken between 1964-1965. Former America YMS type with a displacement of 270-325 (full load) tons and as dimensions 136 x 24.6 x 8 feet. The armament consisted of 1-3” gun, 2-2cm anti aircraft guns and 2 anti submarine depth charge projectors. The 2 880bhp G.M. 9-2268A diesel machinery with 2shafts allowed a speed of 15 knots. With an oil fuel bunker capacity of 20 tons and a speed of 9 knots was the range 2.500 miles. Crew numbered 51 men. Hull of wood build.
