Lacking sufficient number of professional stevedores the Polish harbour Gdansk according to a CIA report dated 5 May 1958

An item reported that in the Polish harbour Gdansk a sufficient number of stevedores was lacking while the men were to work in the harbours if Gdynia and Gdansk. To solve this problem were daily ‘volunteers’ working as stevedore. For this purpose were groups composing of students, railroad engineers, volunteer fireman, soldiers and stevedores.
