Japanese cargo ship Daito Maru 1918-1949
Built
by Harima Shipbuilding and Engineering, Aioi, Japan in 1918. Lost
underway from Onomich towards Otaru on 26 December 1949. At that
moment owned by Amagasaki Kisen Gomei KK, Japan. Until 1930 owned by
Teikoku Kisen K.K., Koben, Japan. Steel built. The Tanaka Engine
Works 102 nhp 3-cylinder expansion steam engine allowed a speed of
8-10 knots. Coal bunker capacity 186 tons and a range of 2.500
nautical miles with a speed of 8 knots. Gross register tonnage 1.233
tons and as dimensions 69,5 x 10,1 x 5,7 metres or 228 (between
perpendiculars) x 33 x 5’6”(light)-16’7” (loaded) feet.
