Japanese single crew cargo ship Hino Maru No. 1 1929-944
Official number 34872. Call sign JDYC. Gross tonnage 2.666 tons, deadweight 4.291 tons and as dimensions 315 (between perpendiculars) x 46 x 7.6 (light)-20.6 (loaded) feet. Built by Mitsubishi Zosen Kaisho Ltd., Kobe with yard number 188in August 1929. Owned by Nippon Shokuen KK, Tarumi, Japan and since 1940 Hinomaru Kisen K.K.. Fitted out with oil fuelled 1-368hp diesel engine. Speed 10 (normal cruising)-12 (maximum) knots. Range 12.700 miles with a speed of 10 knots. Fuel bunker capacity 268 tons. Torpedoed on 16 April 1944 by the American submarine USS Paddle (SS-263) in the Ceram Sea.
