Japanese cargo ship (ex-Seneca 1920-1927) Kanda Maru 1927-1941 (Fukyo Maru 1941-1944)


Official number 32653. Call sign JUJB. Gross tonnage 2.220 tons, tonnage under deck 1.963 tons, net tonnage 1.304 tons and as dimensions 251.0 x 43.5 x 24.2 feet. Built by American Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Cleveland, Ohio, USA in November 1920. Owned by Fukuyo Kisen KK, Kobe, Japan. With an oil-fuelled 3 cylinder triple expansion engine. Originally of the US Shipping Board as the SS Seneca. Torpedoed on 28 March 1944 off Rasa Island by the American submarine USS Barb.
