Japanese single screw cargo ship (ex-Baccarat 1920-1927) Daigen Maru 1927-1961
Official number 32739. Call sign JUMB. Gross tonnage 2.221 tons, tonnage under deck 1.991 tons, net tonnage 1.318 tons and as dimensions 251.8 x 43.6 x 22.0 feet. Built by American Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Cleveland, Ohio, USA in July 1920. Owned by Numara Kisen Goshi Koisha (managers Taiyo Kaiun KK), Hutyu, Japan. Range 7.000 miles with a speed of 9 knots. Fuel bunker capacity 350 tons coal, but now oil-fuelled. With a 3 cylinder triple expansion engine. Ex-Baccarat. Wrecked off Muroran, Hokkaido, Japan on 5 January 1961. USA-flagged between 1920-1927, owned by Independent Steamship Co., Detroit, USA and in 1927 of Hammond Lumber Co., Fairhaven.
