Dutch East Indies coal bunker station at Poeloe Weh popular by foreign warships according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 27 August 1901

An item reported that Poeloe Weh, Dutch East Indies more and more was visited by foreign warships. In the last few days arrived with short intervals in the Sabang Bay for coal bunkering the Austro-Hungarian 4.064 tons cruiser 2nd class Kaiserin Elisabeth with the around 1.600 tons gunboats Gerda and Leopard, the French transport Vinh Long and the German 4.400 tons 1st class cruiser Irene.
