Romanian barge Yser active in the Danube and Black Sea area in 1943
With
his letter dated 4 July 1943 sent the representative for Romania of
the Erste Donau-Dampfschiffahrts-Gesellschaft to the German
Reichskommissar für Seeschiffahrt a list of the Romanian and Greek
lower Danube type barges. The barges could after being fitted out for
sea annex coastal service be used for military and economical
shipping towards the Ukraine. Already were 95 barges hired by the
D.D.S.G. The barges mentioned on the list were in hands of Romanian
companies. Owned by the Navigatia Fluviala Româna (N.F.R.). Former
property of the Anglo-Danubian Transport Company. Romania-flagged,
1st class, carrying capacity 1.478 (river)-1.100 (sea)
tons.
