Built by the shipyard Nachtegaal of Jan Frederik Meursing at Amsteram, Netherlands in 1899 for account of Rijksloodswezen as the gas transport Zuiderzee. The gas stored in two large high pressure boilers was used as fuel for the gas buoys at sea districts 4 and 5 . Steel built. Length 24 metres. Originally fitted out with 1-20hp petrol engine; also fitted out with 2 masts and sails, cutter or schooner rigged. Homeport Enkhuizen, Netherlands where the gas factory was situated. Since 1928 stationed as Hellevoetsluis and converted into a buoy layer including removal of the mast aft and conversion into a heavy load and lift device. Ten named Motorbetonnings- en Verlichtingsvaartuig No. 7 Zuiderzee. End 1940s renamed Haringvliet and sold in 1951. Converted into a work vessel used by a sand extraction company in Limburg active on the river Maas. Since the 1980s private property. The newspaper Scheepvaart dated Monday 30 January 1899 reported the launching on Saturday 28th January. The building probably begun in 1899.
