Faith, Tsar and Fatherland 1905 Forgotten War made by Russian artist Pavel Viktorovich Ryzhenko
According to the caption was the painting titled Faith, Tsar and Fatherland 1905 Forgotten War made by the Russian artist Pavel Viktorovich Ryzhenko (1970-2014). The scene shows the Russian battleship Petropavlovsk with in the foreground the artist Vasily Vasyilyevich Vereschagin (1842-1904) and Admiral Steapn Osipovich Makarov (1849-1904) just before the ship was lost. She sunk on 13 April after hitting two mines underway to Port Arthur after seeking unsucesfully battle with the Japanese fleet. Vereschagin and Makarov and the most of her crew members were killed.1,2,3 It is a scene from the war between Russian and Japanese empires, which the first empire lost. The Russo-Japan War happened between 8 February 1904-5 September 1905 and was fought in the Far East.

2. Vereschagin was a famous Russian war artist.
3. Makarov was also known for his naval research incuding oceangraphy and naval tactics and designed for instance icebreakers and ice breaking steamships of which the Angara nowadays is a museum ship at Irkutsk.
