Japanese single screw cargo ship (ex-Shoho Maru 1936-1938) Syoho Maru 1938-1943

Built by Mitsui Bussan Kaisha Ltd., Tama in 1937. Owned by Shimatani Kisen K.K., Kobe, Japan. Call sign JONA. Gross tonnage 1.936 tons, under deck 1.620 tons, net tonnage 1.101 tons and as dimensions 274.5 x 40.0 x 21.0 feet. Sunk by the American submarine USS Greenling (SS-213) while used as a transport in the Eastern Carolines. With a coal bunker capacity of 360 tons and a speed of 10 knots was the range 3.800 nautical miles. Speed 10 (cruising)-12 (maximum) knots.
