In a letter dated 7 August 1944 sent to the general director of the D.D.S.G. at Vienna, Austria was the possible sale of 50% of the shares in the Romanian Tankers Shipping Company (Stad) with a value of 40 million lei reported. The main reason for this sale was that SARDEP lost quite a lot of money when her factories at Girgiu and Ploieşti (1), Romania were destroyed. As a result SARDEP intended to end her Romanian interests. The company possessed 2 new motor tankers and 6 tank lighters. Half of the shares were to be paid in Lei in Bucharest and the remaining money could be paid in reichsmark in Germany. The common believe that the Romanian government was involved in STAD was not correct. The shares were divided over SARDEP, SRD 25% and Dr. Buchlea the other 25%. The writer which name is not mentioned believed that the D.D.S.G. or the German government would be interested. Either to get rid of a concurrent or to get more influence in the Romanian Danube affairs.

1. Ploieşti was during the Second World War several times attacked by the Allies because of her important oil extraction and refinery industry. In August 1944 was the city captured by Soviet forces.
