British warship HMS HMS Xenophon ordered to escort British Greenland and Davis Strait whalers according to the Dutch newspaper Haagsche courant dated 12 April 1799

An item dated London, England 4 April reported that the 32-gun ship HMS Xenophon (1) with the first favorable wind was to depart with a convoy of 21 Greenland whalers and 4 Davis Strait whalers of Hull, England.

Note

1. Purchased as the 1795 built merchant ship Fram in 1798, renamed Investigator after a conversion into a survey vessel between 1800-1801 and disposed in November 1810, sold in December 1810, renamed Xenophon and used again as a merchant ship until probably 1872, in her latter years as storage hulk.
