American brig Delaware visited Honolulu, Hawaii according to the newspaper The Polynesian dated 12 January 1845

An item reported the arrival at Honolulu, Hawaii on 7 January of the American brig Delaware captain Pell coming from Sand Island loaded with 1,000 barrels oil and other property saved from the wrecked American whaling ship Holder Borden.(1) 400 Barrels oil leaked out at the island. The Delaware was harassed by bad weather causing much damage in hull and rigging.

1. Whalemen’s Shipping List dated 5 December 1843. Of Fall River, captain Pell, agent Nathan Durfee, tonnage 442 ton, departed on 10 November 1842 to the Indian Ocean.
