German navy ordered to organize transport of sick and/or wounded men towards according Berdyansk, Ukraine to the German War Diary of Admiral Black Sea dated 1 September 1943

An item reported that the German Naval Shore Commander Ukraine was ordered to organize the transport of wounded military with naval ferry hospital barges from Mariupol, Ukraine towards Berdyansk, Ukraine. The first transport was to leave Mariupol at 19:00 o’clock on 1 September to continue every other day returning the following night. Two naval gun landing craft were responsible for the protection. To make this possible were 2 such landing craft and 1 naval ferry hospital barge sent to him. At 19:15 o’clock departed the first convoy.(1)

1. Newspapers reported that Russian forces recaptured Mariupol on 15 September.
