Large number of German submarines off Ivory Coast sighted according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee Daily summary dated 9 May 1942

An item reported that a trans-Atlantic ferry pilot and other crew members sighted on 5 May of the Ivory Coast 25 enemy submarines within a distance of 100 miles. Two were described as large, five of medium size and the remaining of small size. Lacking other sources no more details were available.
