An item reported that the US Atlantic Fleet would be dispersed around 25 June after the exercices on the Southern drill grounds were completed. The battleships were sent to the naval yards for leave and maintenance. The crews of the 2nd Battle Squadron consisting of the older battleships were with reservists and midshipmen of the Naval Academy augmented. The ships were to execute training exercise passing the Canal and going as far as Honolulu, Hawaii and to be returned in September.
