Dutch gunboat Hr.Ms. Hadda testing the Elia torpedo according to the Jaarboek van de Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeemacht 1903-1904

After conversion into a minelayer

An item reported that the Dutch gunboat Hr.Ms. Hadda (1) departed on 7 December 1903 from the navy yard at Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands towards Amsterdam, Netherlands to be prepared for testing the Elia torpedo. On 31 May was she commissioned commanded by 1st lieutenant C.A. Dominicus. A commission was appointed to execute the experiment with this barrage torpedo which was in fact a floating mine.

Laid down by Koninklijke Fabriek van stoom- en andere werktuigen, Amsterdam, Netherlands on 26 April 1879, launched on 17 November 1879, commissioned on 10 May 1880, converted into a minelayer in 1909, accommodation ship in 1940 and captured by German forces. Screw steam gunboat 1st class of the so-called Staunch type.
