Italian torpedo boat Cigno 1936-1943

Laid down by Cantieri Navali Riuniti, Ancona, Italy on 11 March 1936. Launched on 24 November 1936. Commissioned on 15 March 1937. Lost off Marettimo Island on 16 April 1943 in a battle with the British destroyers HMS Paladin and Pakenham. Stricken on 18 October 1946. Spica-class, sub-class Climene, preceded by Curtatone-class, succeeded by Ariete-class. Displacement 652 (standard)-1.010 (full load) tons and as dimensions 81.40 x 8.20 x 2.38-3.01 metres. Two Tosi turbines and 2 Yarrow type boilers with 19.000 hp, 221 tons fuel bunker capacity and 34 knots speed. Range 1.960 nautical miles/15 knots and 704 nautical miles/30 knots. Crew numbered 99 men. Armament included 4x1-45cm/18” torpedo guns, 3x1-10cm/3.9” 47 cal guns, 4x2-13.2mm/0.5”guns and mines.
