Whaling bark Vigilant visited South Africa according to the The Cape of Good Hope Almanac and Annual Register for 1846

The New Pictorial and Illustrated Family Magazine established for the diffusion of useful knowledge, 

vol. III. Robert Sears editor, New York 1846.

An item reported the arrival in the Table Bay on 1 May 1845 by the whaling bark Vigilant with a tonnage of 405 tons, master J,M, Hoets, coming from the Downs on 25 February and departing on 14 June.
