French naval attaches stationed in South America ordered to gather naval intelligence information according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 28 March 1942

An item reported that the French naval attache at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil refused to carry out the instructions of the French Vichy government to report the movements of US and British vessels, troop transports and convoys and of South American vessels. The French naval attache at Buenos Aires, Argentina however seemed to accept the instructions.
