British anti submarine frigate HMS Dundas (F48) 1952-1953

Of the Blackwood or Type 14-class anti submarine frigates. Laid down by J. Samuel White and Co. Ltd., Cowes, Wight on 17 October 1952, launched on 25 September 1953, delivered in March 1956, commissioned on 16 March 1956 and scrapped at Troon, Scotland in April 1983. Displacement 1,180 (empty)-1,553 (full loaded) tonnes and as dimensions 94 x 10 x 4.6 metres or 310 x 33 x 15 feet. The machinery consisted of a steam turbine and 2 Babcock&Wilcox boilers supplying via one shaft 15,000 shp allowing a speed of 27 knots and a range of 5,200 nautical miles/12 knots. Her crew numbered 112 men. Armament consisted originally of 3x1-4cm Bofors Mk7 gun and 2 Limbo Mark 10 anti-submarine mortars.
