British screw steam cargo ship Neganti 1918 and Narenta 1918-1939 and Japanese Kosei Maru 1939-1943

Launched by Workman, Clark&Co. Ltd., Belfast, Ireland for Royal Mail Steam Packet Co. Ltd., London, England as Narenta with yard number 446 on 27 August 1918, completed as a frozen meat carrier in March 1919, since 1939 as Kosei Maru of Nippon Suisan K.K., Japan, reconstructed in June 1939 and used as frozen fish carrier, requisitioned by the Japanese Imperial navy on 1 September 1941, converted into a an auxiliary transport the same month, torpedoed by the American submarine USS Tunny (SS-282) on 7 April 1943, sunk while towed by the Japanese light cruiser Nagara towards Truk on 9 April 1943 and stricken on 31 May 1943. Laid down as Neganti on 27 August 1918. Gross tonnage 8,223-8,265 tons, under deck 7,758 tons, net tonnage 5,145 tons, deadweight 10,400 tons and as dimensions 450.2 x 58.3 x 37.1 x 29 (loaded) feet. 2 Oil fuelled steam turbines, geared to one shaft. With 845nhp horsepower a speed of 11 (normal)-13 (maximum) knots. Modified War Standard G design.
