Dutch minesweeper Hr.Ms. Eland Dubois 1936-1942

Of the Jan van Amstel-class minesweepers although also to be used as minelayers. Laid down by Gusto, Schiedam, Netherlands with yard number 7033 on 21 March 1936, launched on 24 October 1936, commissioned on 21 June 1937, departed from Vlissingen, Netherlands to the Dutch East Indies on 30 August 1937, arrived at Sabang, Dutch East Indies on 4 November 1937 and scuttled by her own crew in the roads of Gili Genteng in de Straat van Madura on 7 March 1942 while underway from Surabaya, Dutch East Indies towards Australia. Displacement 460 tons and as dimensions 55,80 x 7,80 x 2,20 metres. Speed 15 knots with a horsepower of 1.600ihp supplied by 2 Stork triple expansion engines and 2 Yarrow 3-drum boiers. Armament consisted of 1-7,6cm gun, 4-12,7mm/0.50” machine guns and 40 sea mines. Crew numbered 45 men.
