The Jaarboek van de Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeemacht 1903-1904 reported that the British sloop HMS Vestal visited Riouw, Dutch East Indies on 31 May 1904 and Tandjong Priok, Dutch East Indies between 2-7 June 1904. The Dutch newspaper De locomotief dated 6 June 1904 reported her arrival at Batavia on 2 June coming from Singapore and Riouw. Commanded by captain Farquhar. The edition dated 10 June reported her departure to Muntok on Tuesday 7 June. The Soerabaijasch handelsblad dated 9 June described her as a corvette. Her crew lost the football match against the Bataviasche Voetblaclub with 1:5. The edition dated 14 June reported that nobody could or would tell why she was visiting Muntok.
