Japanese warships sighted off Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 31 August 1942

An item reported that a Japanese cruiser escorted by 9 destroyers approached on 29 August Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea.(1) The same day were Japanese ships seen going to the north shore of the bay.

Note

1. Between 25 August-7 September 1942 fought Allied forces against Japanese naval landing troops, the latter were defeated.
