Gilbert Islands fearing Japanese landing according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 27 August 1942

An item reported that Japanese aircraft were seen on 26 August above the Ocean, Abemama and Maiana Islands in the Gilbert Group and Ocean Island reported that the same ship an anonymous ship was sighted, possible preparing a landing.
