Several enemy submarines rammed and sunk by Allied escort vessels according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 29 August 1942

An item referred to the Summary 261 dated 28 August reporting that an enemy submarine torpedoed and sunk 2 tankers 13,000 respectively 9,000 gross tons part of a convoy south of the Windward Passage. The submarine was also ill-fated being rammed and sunk. In the current month were 5 submarines in this manner destroyed during attacking convoys. Four time by a British and one by a Canadian escort vessel.
