An item reported that in the harbour of Kherson, Ukraine the steamship Karl Marks was sighted with a deadweight of 4.500 tons and a draught of 19 (fore)-22 (aft) feet. The hull was painted black and the superstructures white. Fitted out with 4 holds, 8 derricks, one funnel amidships, radio and a movable antenna RDF. Build in 1905 served in the Imperial navy as auxiliary in the Far East. She was at the moment loaded with preserved tomatoes stored in barrels. Still fitted out with machine gun platforms, one on both sides of her bridge.
