Dutch magazine De Prins dated 21 March 1914
An item reported that the training vessel Wellesley lying in the river Tyne was burned. Tugs and fire fighting vessels saved the 297 trainees on board. The nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië added that she served for the merchant shipping.(1)

1. Burned on 11 March 1914. She was the former British 74 gun ship of the line HMS Boscawen which reported in 1873 the HMS Cornwall which served since 30 July 1868 as the training ship Wellesley moored opposite Coble Dene. North Shields. Building ordered on 111 May 1816, laid down at the Woolwich Dockyard in January 1826, launched on 3 April 1844.
