Design for American scout cruiser dated April 1915

The design was number 7 of a set counting 11 designs made between 21-29 April 1915 for a large scout cruiser with a speed of 35 knots. None of the  designs was realized.

Dimensions 755 (waterline0 x 70.6 (waterline) x 20.0 feet and a displacement of 16,250 tons. Block coefficient .535, longitudinal coefficient .594. Turbine propulsion and 8 boiler rooms. Speed 35 knots and a range of 12,000 nautical miles/10 knots speed. The armament consisted of 1x2-36.5 cm/14” breech loading guns, 9-12.7cm/5”quick firing guns as a torpedo defence battery and 4-7.2cm/3” anti aircraft guns. The armour consisted of a main side belt with an extreme width of 17.6’, depth below the waterline 5.0’ and a thickness of 4” and a 1.5” thick protective deck.

Weight summary normal condition: 16.250 tons:

Hull complete and fittings 7,503 tons, protection 935 tons, steam engineering 4,083 tons, reserve feed 2/3 supply 854 tons, battery, ammunition and 2/3 ordnance stores 680 tons, equipment and 2/3 equipment stores 488 tons, outfit and 2/3 stores 536 tons and oil fuel 2/3 full supply 1,161 tons.
