Japanese strengthening positions on Kavieng, New Ireland according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 22 August 1942

An item reported that the Japanese were completing new runways and two anti anti craft positions at Kavieng, New Ireland and that in the harbour were lying one large and 21 small craft.
