Greek broadside ironclad Olga or Vasilisa Olga 1868-1925

Building ordered by Chile in 1868, laid down by Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino, Trieste, Italy in 1868, purchased by Greece in December 1868, launched in 1869, commissioned in 1871, rearmed in 1880, converted into a gunnery training ship and broken up in 1925. Based on the design of the Austro-Hungarian Kaiser Max-class broadside ironclads. Barque-rigged. Wood-built. Displacement 2,060 tons and as dimensions 89.7 x 11.9 x 5.8 metres or 294.4 x 39 x 19 feet. With one screw and 1,950hp was her speed 10.0 knots. Coal bunker capacity 240 tons. Original main armament consisted of 4-17cm 5½ ton long Krupp breech loading guns, 2-17cm 3½ ton short Krupp breech loading guns, apparently later 2-22.86cm/9” rifled muzzle loading guns and 10-70pd rifled muzzle loading guns. Armour consisted of a 9.9cm/3.5”-15cm/5.9” thick belt with the battery protected by 12cm/4.7”.
