An item reported that British planes sighted on 9 March by daylight the German battleship Tirpitz (1) escorted by a cruiser and 2 destroyers (more presumable 3 destroyers).Somewhat later British carrier-based torpedo planes attacked but without any success. She was around 150 miles/5,5 hours west by north away from Narvik, Norway and heading for this harbour. What she was up to was unknown but probably going in north west direction when she was sighted before going to Narvik.
