An item reported that American army heavy bombers attacked on 12 August Rabaul Harbor hitting at least 3 merchant type ships of which 1-10,000 tons transport, all seen burning and listing. Furthermore were near misses scored on 1 cruiser and another 5 transports. The moderate anti aircraft defence and fighters of the Japanese sustained none damage. One Japanese plane was shot down, 6 others damaged.
