Based on a German drawing dating from the Second War at the moment that of 1,600 ships under construction around 150 were completed. Built under the Emergency Shipbuilding Program based on a British concept built shipyards in the USA between 1941-1945 an astonishing number of 2,710 ships of the totally 2,751 planned ships in different variants.
General technical details were a 10,856 tons deadweight , 14,474 tons displacement with as dimensions 134.57 x 17.3 x 8.5 metres or 441.6 x 56.10.75 x 27.9.25 feet. The propulsion consisted of 2 oil-fuelled boilers and a triple expansion steam engine supplying via one screw 2,500 hp allowing a speed of 11-11.5 knots and range of 20,000 nautical miles. The crew numbered 38-62 US merchant seamen and 21-40 US Navy guards to man the guns. The armament consisted of 1-10.2cm/4” deck gun mounted on the stern as protection against enemy submarines and further more anti aircraft guns.
