French warships and Dutch Greenland whalers battling according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamse courant dated 15 September 1703

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 14 September reported the arrival at Bremen, Germany of a German Greenland whaler 11 whales who stated that when he departed the Bay on 16 August he heard heavy gunfire. He presumed that the French ships were battling with the Dutch escorts.
