US naval aircraft bombed Japanese installations and shipping in the Kiska area according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 11 August 1942

An item reported that when 8 US naval aircraft bombed Japanese installations and shipping in the Kiska area [Rat Islands, Aleutian Islands, Alaska] on 8 August 2-500 pound bombs hit each of the two cargo ships and 1-1,000 pound bomb the main camp area. Close to the shore of Kiska Harbor was 1 transport or cargo ship sighted on a partially submerged condition.
