French armoured cruiser Bruix visited Tandjong Priok, Dutch East Indies in 1909

The Jaarboek van de Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeemacht 1908-1909 reported that the French armoured cruiser Bruix (1) visited Tandjong Priok, Dutch East Indies between 6-18 May 1909.(1)

Notes

1. Of the Amiral Charner-class armoured cruisers consisting of the Amiral Charner, Bruix (1891-1921), Chanzy (1890-1907) and Latouche-Tréville, preceded by the Dupuy de Lôme and succeeded by the Pothua, laid down by Arsenal de Rochefort, France in September 1890, launched on 2 August 1894, commissioned on 1 December 1896, stricken on 21 June 1920 and sold to be broken up on 21 June 1921.

2. The Dutch newspaper De locomotief dated Monday 10 May 1909 reported her arrival on Thursday. After the obliged salute her commanding officer the French consul De Saint Sauveur, who returned the visit on Friday. In the evening were both men invited for a dinner with the governor-general at Buitenzorg  The edition dated 17 May reported her departure on Thursday. The De Tijd dated 11 June called her commanding officer Du Plessix.
