Italian destroyer Ugolino Vivaldi 1927-1943

Part of Navigatori-class, preceded by Turbine-class, succeeded by Freccia-class, laid down by Cantieri navali Odero, Sestri Ponente, Italy on 16 May 1927, launched on 9 January 1929, completed on 6 March 1930 and scuttled 50 miles west of Asinara island after she was damaged by Italian coastal batteries on the Corsican coast fighting for the Germans and German aircraft on 10 September 1943.

Displacement 1,930 (standard)-2,621 (full load) tons and as dimensions 107.3 x 10.2 x 3.5 metres or 352 x 33.6 x 11.6 feet. Propulsion consisted of 2 geared steam turbines and 4 water tube boilers s upplying 55,000 hp via 2 shafts allowing a speed of 32 knots and a designed range of 3,800 nautical miles/18 knots. Crew numbered 222-225 men. Armament consisted of 3x3-12cm/4.7 guns, 2x1-4cm/1.6” anti aircraft guns, 4x2-13.2mm/0.52” machine guns, 2x3-53.3cm/21” torpedo tubes and 86-104 mines.
