Italian light cruiser Muzio Attendolo 1931-1942

Of the Condottieri-class Raimondo Montecuccoli-class, laid down by CRDA, Trieste, Italy on 10 April 1931, launched on 9 September 1934, commissioned on 7 August 1935 and sunk after an Allied air attack on Taranto, Italy on 4 December 1942. Afterwards salvaged and broken up instead of a conversion into an anti aircraft cruiser.

With a displacement of 7,523 (standard)-8,994 (full load) tons and as dimensions 182.2 x 16.6 x 5.6 metres or 497.9.2 x 54.5.5 x 18.4.5 feet. Propulsion consisted of 2 Belluzzo geared turbines and 6 Yarrow boilers supplying via 2 shafts 106,000 hp allowing a speed of 37 knots and a range of 4,122 nautical miles/18 knots. Crew numbered 578 men. Armour protection consisted of a 3cm/1.2” thick deck a 6mc/2.4” thick main belt with the gun turrets and conning tower protected by 7cm/2.8”respectively 10cm/3.9”. Armament consisted of 4x2-152.cm/6” cal 53 guns, 3x2-10cm/4” cal 47 guns, 4x2-12.2mm guns, 2x2-53.3cm/21” torpedo tubes and 2 planes for which she carried 1 catapult.
