Japanese seizing French merchant ships according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 29 April 1942

An item referred to a statement of the Vichy French foreign office reporting the seizure of 90,000 tons French merchant shipping by the Japanese naval authorities and that just 10,000 tons remained for the French Indo-China authorities for the coastal trade.
